About Josh
Josh Hill passed away on Saturday, August 8th, 2026, in a car crash on Larch Mountain outside of Corbett, Oregon. A proud Marine, Josh carried the injuries he sustained in service throughout his life, but never let them keep him from the causes he believed in. He remained a dedicated and visible member of Portland's Wall of Vets, standing up for his community and his convictions with the same courage that defined his military service. Josh is lovingly remembered by his girlfriend, Olivia Parker, and his faithful dog, Ranger, who together welcome all who knew and loved him to attend the services held in his honor.

When we needed a hot tub gone, you came with all grins and helped us chop it up with a chain saw. We will miss you sweet one!

So many nights just talking, commiserating, laughing, being… we would just sit, or just walk, for hours, often out in the cold. Spirituality, politics, chronic pain/illness, dad jokes - we chatted about all and nothing at times. Going to miss you, my soul friend. Thank you for the gift of your presence over the years, and for everything else. I’ll see ya later. 💜

Damn, I love you, man... I've sat in silence for weeks now just thinking about our years of gaming together. I'm SO going to miss your game-room entry: "Yo! Yo! Yo!" It's like it echos whenever Will, Drew, Mark, and I get together and continue our year-long adventure. You may not be here, but your asshole chaotic-neutral Kobold-collecting wizard, Lucifer Blackwood, continues on with the final phase of our quest through Icewind Dale. I have the miniature I gave you for Christmas and we've played him to the best of our knowledge. You were always an amazingly creative and impressively brilliant Dungeons and Dragons player. I miss you immensely... If I am ever asked what I thought of you, I'd immediately say, "Damn, Josh is just a brilliant, fantastic, caring guy who I am going to miss like a brother." Be at peace.
We love you Josh. Myself, Paul, and Willo. You was there for us when we were homeless and opened your door and your heart to us. We had many fun days playing DnD together. You were a someone that lit up a room with you laugh and smile. You alway came when the chip was down to lift us up. We have every joyous memory of you in our hearts. Rest well my great friend. Paul, Willo, and I will miss you.

I love you brother. I know we never got to hang out as much as we wanted to, but I'm thankful for the times we had together. Rest easy Hill.

One of my first video game memories is buying your old, broken gameboy and playing Legend of Zelda, Link's Awakening religiously. Just a week ago, we were playing Palworld, and I wish I was able to get frustrated again at you for calling them all Pokemon, not pals. Things already aren't the same. I miss you, man. Andrew and I are going to start up the next campaign soon. Wishing you were there too.

This is really really hard. Really hard. While I am thankful I learned how to grieve, I didn't want to practice it grieving you. I'd just started to feel like I was thriving in life after going through hell. I have my village, my community of people. And they have been reaching out and loving on me. But I keep wanting to call YOU. I keep wanting to text YOU, to share things with you and text you and send you pictures. While we were at the coast, I saw this sign that said, "Do not block driveway." I knew you'd have been game for standing in the middle of the driveway and having me take a picture of you and the sign. I wish we could be going through this together. I wish we could talk and you could give me a hug. The memory I keep thinking about is when I called you and shared with you how desperately the kids and I needed you help. Without any hesitation, you came. You came as quickly as you could. And when you got there, you said, "How can I help? What do you need?" Thank you. Thank you for loving on me and the kids so well. I love you, bro.

You are my best man, and a hell of a fighter. I couldn't be prouder of the guy who showed up for everyone, even people he never met. You had a heart the world could never sink, and you will be missed dearly.

You were my best friend and my whole world. I'll keep watch over everyone here, just like you kept watch over me. Good boy, forever. — R
I have no words. Josh, you were the most genuine, kind, thoughtful friend who was there for me through some very dark times. I’ll never forget our Skype calls while you were in Okinawa. Rest easy ❤️
